Are we really so different?

You know the ones who were the popular kids? The "just like everyone else mainstream" cheerleader/jock type? Yeah well, just like any person, they have hidden depths that you don't know about. To you they may have normal and superficial surfaces. Those same people who you dismiss as "dumb ass jocks" or "ditsy girly girls" have thoughts, opinions, and feelings that they may not make public. Nobody really knows what goes on behind the scenes, all we see are folk who seemingly live the idealistic Disney Channel life. If you are a nerd/geek/goth/ whatever I ask of you to consider this before making the decision on who you give your chances to. Everyone has the potential to prove your judgments wrong. Just because you may have been bullied by someone who looks like this does not mean everyone who looks the part wants to hurt you.

Good post.

I grew up in the "cool" kids club. Typical German futbol hooligan. However, I never tolerated anyone in my circle treating "nerds", "geeks", what have you, like crap.

I never thought I was better than them, or looked down upon them for their choice of lifestyle or what made them happy. Treating them normally actually exposed me to some really cool people, and I made many good friends.

You never know what a simple "hello" might mean to someone, especially in our youth. My home life wasn't exactly perfect, and I couldn't imagine having to put up with even more crap while attending school. So, this is how I engaged others.
