How many of you are lolitas?

Hello there :)

I am just curious about how many of you guys are also into lolita fashion?  :)
That's because I recently got very aware of the fact that many sweet lolitas say they get asked if they're littles on the street.
So I thought: Mhm, I understand how outsiders can jump to this conclusion when they see a lolita on the streets but how many are actually both...?

I for myself knew lolita for years but only found a connection to it through ddlg. I do enjoy doing it seperately now and also sometimes dress up more in classic lolita than in sweet lolita but love both

For anyone who is not familiar with the term lolita: It has nothing to do with the book "lolita" but it's a fashion style from Harajuku ( an area in Tokyo, Japan) which is taking dresses of the rococo & victorian epoques as examples to design their dresses with different prints. There are different substyles such as sweet lolita ( this one is the one that make people think of littles: mainly consists of pink dresses, pretty cute with lots of carnival, bear, candy and unicorn prints ( a famous brand is Angelic Pretty for example)), gothic lolita, classic lolita, pirate lolita, gore lolita, sailor lolita and many more. They mostly also wear petticoats and bloomers under their dresses/jsk's <3

So....yeah, are you? ;)

PS: I attached two examples of a sweet lolita coord (outfit) and a gothic lolita one... the classic lolita is pretty diverse so I didn't dare to /D

I've always secretly wanted a girlfriend who is into lolita - they don't have to be into it like 24/7, but i just find it a fascinating thing, and I think it would be fun for me to also get some cool old-school outfits and dress up too.

Huh...this is something I'll have to look at more because I'm not familiar enough with what differentiates a Lolita.  I'm familiar with the novel; however, this particular style of dress being attached to the name is new to me.  Looks like it has an entirely different meaning compared to the BDSM circles.

Any tips or references you would recommend reading, Alainnb (sorry...smiled at the typo that persists)?

My favorite is classic Lolita, though I prefer to keep my Lolita stuff and lg stuff separate because other lolitas don't like the association with their fashion. I understand, and it's the least I could do.If everyone automatically thought of fetishes when a clothing choice is brought up they assume things and treat you with prejudice. That's why the Lolita community is so sensitive about it. It's best if I left certain things I do individually unsaid.

I know exactly what you mean! qq I mostly wear sweet lolita when I'm feeling little ( tho I stay at home then) and classic when I feel more adult... however, whenever someone would ask me if I'm into ddlg while I wear lolita, I'd probably... not directly answer the question but quickly point out the differences... lolitas have to face it that often, I'm so sorry for them... then again, it's the same with the prejudices about pedophilia for ddlg.... why can't people just... idk, inform themselves first...? xD

It has! It really has nothing to do with the book, the Japanese who thought of the name for it didn't even know the book existed! It has caused many many problems for the lolitas tho and that's pretty sad > <"

Uhmmm... I'd check out some YouTube channels? Lovely Lor is a good one for example or Deerstalker Pictures 2: The Secret Life of a Lolita ( warning: sarcasm and exaggerations in this one ;) ) Be prepared that lolitas are quite annoyed by getting mistaken for littles tho  :D  So whenever they explain lolita and then talk about ddlg or ageplay... don't expect them to know a lot about it xD Usually, if you look into the comment section, there will be already littles up to explain what it is and stuff.... it's just that lolitas have to deal with questions from absolute strangers like " Are you wearing diapers under this?" " What's your fetlife profile?" "Oh, so you're one of those babies?" "How did you get it so fluffy? /male grown up strangers lifts up their skirt to look at their petticoat ( basically underwear) " .... so... yeah.... I bet you can understand it is pretty.... weird for actual vanillas.... /D

( Yeah... I thought it could also stand for "baby" so I decided to keep it... makes it unique tho  ;)  )

Edit: Typo at exaggeration

I've found this requires an amount of effort and possible confrontation in challenging their uninformed selves that too many people aren't willing to do now-a-days.  It's sad. It's not isolated to fringe discussions on labeling; the main stream degradation of insightful debate is harrowing.

I WISH.

I'm really tall so I would feel strange in them. Plus my weight fluctuates so I'd hate not fitting such expensive dresses properly. :'c

I like hime and guro lolita the best--obviously gyaru too haha.

Gothic lolita here. Been into it for over 10 years now.

And yes, due to the stigma between the two communities and the sheer amount of heck that my sweet friends deal with from randoms, I separate them entirely.
It's my current goal to save up for a new hime style dress sometimes in the new year.

Isn't bodyline for all sizes tho? O; I know it's not one of the big brands and people make fun of it but I feel like it's not that bad... especially for people that just don't fit into the brand dresses......

I use to wear lolita a lot, however it personally bugs me when people use lolita in their DDLG relationships, the fashion already has to fight against that, they don't need more people using it like that.

i still have all my pieces too, except the socks they got ruined XD

I've always been interested and love seeing all the different dress and accessories.  But my biggest concern has been finding a vendor who offer plus-size options and the cost.  Someday though...  *stares at my waist-line and the scale*

Lolita is one of my favorite fashion styles. (My others are Fairy Kei and Decora!) I've always wanted to dress in Japanese street fashion but it's too expensive for me and I don't fit into any of the clothes I find.

私もロリタです!^^

Angelic PrettyとInnocent Worldがすきですね.

「I'm a Lolita too! I like Angelic Pretty and Innocent World.」

Like stated above though, I like to also keep it separate from lg. Being into kawaii fashion and dressing it for many years, I didn't discover ddlg until later on! My favorite substyles are both classic and sweet❤

I'm definitely into Lolita fashion, but I didn't know that people ask if they're involved in DD/lg. Then again, with the name alone and the book connected to the name add in the misconceptions about DD/lg...

Anyway! Yes, I'm very much into lolita fashion. I'm closer to gothic lolita, but sweet lolita is very fun too.

I’m really into lolita fashion, I have been for about 7 years although I haven’t worn it in what seems forever. I’m slowly getting back into it, getting comfortable again and slowly rebuilding my wardrobe.

I’m mainly punk lolita and gothic lolita on occasion. I own some sweet lolita pieces, but use to coord them in a not-so-sweet way :p

As DD and EGL designer/ dressmaker I can agree. I am very aware they're two different things, although obviously, I seek for both.

I’m on mobile and idk why I can’t edit my last post.

I’m also a little and even though I haven’t seen this kind of drama in my comm, I know the whole little/ageplay/kink thing is kind of a big deal in some communities.

I try to separate both as much as I can, or at least keep it to myself. After all, Daddy is still Daddy no matter what I’m wearing, but nobody needs to know besides us.

I love Lolita fashion, and even own some outfits, but because I'm not the tiny Asian body type, I feel awkward wearing the outfits outside the house. And Daddy doesn't like them at all.

I used to be as a teenager! Loved the Lolita fashion, then afterwards it was Visual-Kei!

This style has always fascinated me and at one point for about a year I was a 'Lolita'. I dressed like this but honestly even though the style is amazing, I was someone who could not flatter the image. It just did not do me justice. I still admire the style and it will always be a favorite but sadly my lolita clothing is put away for the time being.

I looooooove pastel goth Lolita it's my favourite!! I'm currently sitting at ~55kg but my dream weight would be ~45kg (since I'm 5'3) just because of Fashion like this.

I love both normal girly Lolita and dark goth Lolita, my Daddy talks about going to Japan a lot and I know I'd spend 50% of that holiday shopping for Lolita clothing :3
