I really need someone to talk to. His depression is ruining our relationship

Hi,

He has been depressed for about three months now but for the last month it has been really bad..

Today he’s seeing a therapist for the first time but just because I said he should, and he went there with negative thoughts about it helping him.

We haven’t really talked for a week. I try to message him and ask how is he. I tell him that I’m here if he wants to talk or if he’s feeling super down but he just keeps pushing me away. He also gets upset and mad if I say something about my feelings and this situation.

I don’t want to leave him when he’s on the lowest point of his life and I feel bad of even thinking leaving because I love him and if I can’t take him at his worst, I don’t deserve him at his best.

But his depression is ruining everything and is making me depressed too..

Advices?

I know you love him and want to be there for him but its kinda hard to do all that when he's not letting you, ya know? So, at some point you're gonna have to put yourself first and find out what you really want with this relationship and possibly in future ones.

As hard as it is, don't mention your relationship to him in any way. Depression can't be fixed, so be aware of that. You may not seem to be making a difference, but that doesn't mean your support isn't appreciated. Be there for him when you can, but find times to be independent so you can take care of yourself too.

Thanks for the advices. I can’t go to the therapy with him because we are in a long distance relationship
