Sewing patterns?

Hey!

So, I love to sew. It's what I do to relax. I'm planning on sitting down tomorrow and making a pattern from a onesie that I bought for my little girl but thought that I would ask you all if you had one that you like to use? Or if you used something as the base to hack into a onesie?

Are there any other related sewing patterns you love? I would love to know the designers so I can look them up!

Thanks so much! I can't wait to share her finished onesie with you all!

Oh I don't have adult size patterns but sew a lot for family's children and keep meaning to try sew something for me but struggle with the conversion of sizes etc.

So following -just- in case anyone does have anything to share :D

I like doing embroidery and hand sewing. When my children were smaller I'd see their clothes for em. I used McCall's and simplicity patterns. Bought from Wal-Marts sewing aisle

I usually use clothing I already have and that I like the shape of. I use it to make a base pattern and then maybe adjust something for preference (shorter, longer or more puffy sleeves for example)

Even though I don't use patterns this might help:

-For a onesie you could for example use the pattern of a leotard, put a t-shirt on it for sleeves and put mini shorts on it for making it longer toward the thighs...

-Something really cute if you like frilly stuff is tracing panties and making the tracing very large, then you can sew all the edges into a ruffle with elastic thread and get "bloomer panties"

-Or have the panties normal size, then pull the edges as far as you can while you sew them very closely and repeatedly as you pull, making sure that the sewed area will keep being "expanded", then you get panties with cute edge ruffles!

-Sleeves on any shirt pattern can also be enlarged and sewn together at the "end" with elastic thread to give a sleeve ruffle.

-Finding tops with tied shoulder bows in stores is very problematic but I like them a lot so I made them myself instead.
Find some nice fabric you like and make a top in a box shape, then attach 4 looong fabric pieces for the shoulders, 2 in front and 2 in back. You can eventually decorate the box top with laces or ruffles if it has no pattern or looks plain.

-With winter upcoming a really cute thing not in stores is also beanies with 2 pom poms. They are so cute and really fun to make yourself!

-Probably the easiest thing I'm really happy about is making circle skirts, they give a very nice A-line... It's basically a huge circle that you cut in the fabric and then in the middle you cut a small circle for your waist ^-^

Have fun sewing!!

I would use a long tshirt or a size large enough to cover your butt (maybe even a knit material sleep shirt since they're a bit long) and then just cut and hem along the leg area and add crotch snaps.  If the body or sleeves are too loose for you, you can just serge off an inch or two along each side to make it more slim.  I also REALLY like KAM snaps instead of the sew on metal ones.

I'm not a fan of the ones made from t-shirts, thanks so much for sharing them with me though! I'm going to make a pattern from the one she has. :)
