Clean interface and Ads

visually speaking, this forum has a very good looking interface, when looking at the background, it looks almost like cotton candy in the background, plus, there way information is decided and present it makes it easy for new users to know how to use the site, with no ads taking extra space.

 

but, there's a downside, since (as far as i know), there isn't a monetary system to sustain the site, that means that there's someone who's playing from their pocket to keep the site on (paying for bandwidth), so having ads wouldn't be a loss for the person doing that, plus, i remember seeing a moderator mentioning how they don't get paid for the effort they'r putting in the site, which can be fixed if they can get paid throu the ads, or how i seen in a thread the idea of a video chat between users, but that would probably cost more to maintain the site, which might need ads to be paid with.

 

but there are limits, if ads are implemented, it'll depend on the possible number of people who visit the site, and it might effect the interface badly since it won't look that clean anymore, so depending on the use, it can be both good and bad.

There have been discussions about such topics amongst the staff in the past and it has been decided that we as a whole do not wish for ads to bog down our site and possibly ruin the feel of our site.

I fully agree with this philosophy, however you may wan to consider some kind of monetary support from members on a volunteer basis. I'm sure there are members who would be happy to support the site.

I agree, I would donate if there was a way - I know from experience how costs add up for volunteers, which runs the risk of burnout.
