Guest Arc Posted September 14, 2017 Report Posted September 14, 2017 I started decorating some kitty ears for a friend, because she wanted pretty kitty ears but didn't have the budget for 99% of the ones they sell online. I've noticed a lot of people around here looking for budget friendly gear, so I thought I'd share what I started making. I started off by buying some $2 ears on Aliexpress. (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2016-New-Cat-Ear-Orecchiette-Party-Fox-Long-Fur-Ears-Anime-Neko-Costume-Hair-Headband-Cosplay/32720686203.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.kImNZx) They arrived in two weeks, and are so soft and pretty that I almost was too scared to start changing them. >< They're so good that I ended up buying a second pair for myself and they're now my favourite ears But I started by taking them off the headband, stuffing them with tissue paper, and taping off the fur with masking tape. I mixed purple acrylic paint with water to colour the white inside of the ear. Using paint straight would set too hard, but it's perfect mixed with water. You can use fabric markers, but this is so much cheaper (the purple paint was $1, whereas markers are $10+). When that dried I took off the tape and took out the tissue, and put them back on the headband. Then I just sewed on two little bows which I bought for 20 cents each, and that was it. My friend is on a tight budget and I managed to make her these ears for less than $4. They worked out so well and I'm so pleased with them. I just thought I'd share since I keep seeing people wanting to buy nice things but they have tight budgets. There's so many things you could do to decorate ears, and it's an awesome idea for littles on budgets who still want nice things. Plus it's special because you did it yourself
Guest infinitecases Posted September 14, 2017 Report Posted September 14, 2017 These are really cute and such a good idea!! Ears are hard to find online, especially the good comfy ones
Guest Bunnyblossom Posted September 21, 2018 Report Posted September 21, 2018 Those are so cute! D: I never saw that you posted them, just heard you talk about how you did them. I rly like the purple. ^^ you so clevers.
Guest Arc Posted September 21, 2018 Report Posted September 21, 2018 I'll see if I can find a photo of the tail and write about that tomorrow too. I made a whole set ^^
Guest Bunnyblossom Posted September 21, 2018 Report Posted September 21, 2018 Eeee yay! I was wonderin’ where the tail was. ^^ Super cool to see whatchu did, you crafty lil DIYer.
Guest Longlegs Posted September 21, 2018 Report Posted September 21, 2018 Just dropping by to show my support for the kind of creativity the scene as a whole absolutely needs.Looks great, too.
Guest Arc Posted September 21, 2018 Report Posted September 21, 2018 And.... the tail! I bought a tail plug off Aliexpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1PC-White-Fox-Tail-Butt-Metal-Plug-35cm-Long-Anal-Sex-Toy-New/32592788397.html - NSFW). I know buying sex toys from China can be a bit sketchy but as long as it's glass or steel it can be boiled and sterilised. The tail was really soft and it was actually fluffier than it looked in the product photo. Colouring the tail was super easy. I took the mix of purple acrylic paint and water, and used an old toothbrush to brush the colour through the faux fur of the tail. I only coloured the tip but you could do the whole tail if you wanted, or even do lots of colours. As soon as I had finished painting it I washed it with warm water, massaged in some fabric softener, and washed it out again. It stopped it drying hard since I used paint, and it made the whole tail even softer than before. It also made it smell kinda nice My friend wanted it to be able to change from a plug tail to a clip on tail so I pulled it from the steel plug and attached a clip and used a giant bow to cover the top of the tail so the attachments are hidden. The plug was bought from a local sex store but you can buy ones in that style from most places. I'll leave this as a link because the photo has contains the plug so it's NSFW. https://imgur.com/a/vui8dNP The tail was $4.70 USD after shipping, and the paint was $1 as mentioned above. I already had the ribbon, but it would be less than $1 worth of satin ribbon anyway. So the tail would cost about $7 to make if you kept the original plug, or if you made the set it would cost about $11. If I remember correctly the tail and ears set we based this off was about $130 before shipping - but it has been a year so I could be wrong lol. There were a few differences obviously but when you're on a budget this could be a really good option. I was pleased with how they turned out, and my friend was super happy ^^ 1
Guest Bunnyblossom Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 SAAAA CUUUUTE And I was like nsfw? How is it nsfw? Ohhhhhhhh lol -didn’t read, went straight for the pic-
Guest Bunnyblossom Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 “as it's glass or steel it can be boiled and sterilised.”
Guest Arc Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 Well I never thought gmm memes could be used for toys but it's perfect lol.
Princess.Darling Posted September 23, 2018 Report Posted September 23, 2018 These are honestly SO cute! I do love making things from scratch but maybe this would be a little less daunting to start learning them and how they work? Eventually I want to make them from scratch and know how to trim and airbrush them for some realistic and fantasy looks. Thats super far in the future but a P/princess can dream! hehe
