 THE WAIT

Someone once told me

That beginning relationships are like soup

It’s fresh it’s new and unknown

So you have to wait

Because if you rush to eat it

It burns it hurts and then

It's just kind of numb

You have to wait for it to cool down

So you can dip your spoon in

And taste the warm flavor of patience

That’s when it tastes the best

Trying to eat it after burning your tongue

It just doesn’t taste the same

You can’t replicate that warm fuzzy feeling

That you only get by waiting

That’s why it’s worth the wait

Inner Muse

Time passing through us like a powerful current

It flows through our bodies a rush of energy

A muse from within no one knows where it goes

But she is forbidden not free to be herself

We don’t let her take the lead and follow her

She is however the conductor of this ride

Then in an instance she is gone

Leaving us with the empty feeling of nothingness

We wait and wait for her silent return

To one day capture her beauty into words on paper

And without her we seem insignificant

As if we lose ourself and everything we stand for

But every now and then she comes to us

A whisper a thought a dream or memory

And for a moment we become her

THE PERFECTLY IMPERFECT

Our fight is running out

We keep running about

Trying to make ourselves perfect

But what is perfect anymore

Perfect is what chokes us

Makes us sob on floor /at 2:04 in the morning

Perfection is a dream within a reality

Perfect perfect perfect

When will we be perfect

Can we be perfect

Why do we even want perfection

Perfection becomes the very thing we envy

And WHY

What is it all for

Perfection in a reflection they can’t see our deprivation

crying lying and dying

Looking around to find our perfection

BEAUTY IS NOT perfection

Perfection isn't real

We have made it real

Why why why WHY

Why can't I be perfect

Why can't you be perfect

Why can't we all be perfect

Perfect is a lie we tell ourselves

To make us believe we will NEVER be good enough

Well I say FORGET that

We teach our young to judge

Who has the latest styles

Who is “so last year”

When judging is so last year

WHY

Make me understand WHY we strive and deprive

All for what

Perfection?

When will we finally be Perfect?

Perfection is crying in your bed at night

Perfection is knowing you'll never be enough

Perfection is our lie

Created by society

Making us believe that perfection is real

WHAT IS THE DEAL

We lie and lie and LIE

We don't know what is a lie or truth anymore

All because

Perfection

When perfection is the very thing that kills our young

It invades our homes with its treacherous claws

It steals our love and consumes all

PERFECTION is what makes us dig into our skin without a second thought

Perfection is a word

But when words have no meaning anymore not even words are perfect

What ever happened to the perfectly imperfect

IMPERFECT I say imperfect I DEMAND

I want to be imperfect

Imperfect means all the mistakes

All the times we messed up on accident

Because perfect is hatred against the perfectly imperfect

And imperfect is what we are

All we will ever be

And all we will every need

The perfectly imperfect

I. The beginning is the end

I saw them today

The unlucky souls who had fallen into a trap

Buried under their broken dreams and hopes

They can't see it's coming for them

A tremendous storm chasing them

Bringing terror and heartbreak

In a cloud of doom

Consuming their essence

All they stand for

Their beginning is their end

II. The fall

He saw her in the hallway

Walking with her books in her arms

Scared she might drop them

She keeps a steady yet gentle grip

Her delicate fingers fly through the pages

She was a brilliant mind

He was too but he had hidden it away many moons ago

The original cliche

The jock and the nerd

Fallen into love's everlasting grasp

III. The date

He chased her into the woods soft path

The leaves laid out beneath them

The branches flowed with them ever so gently

The light spring breeze moved them

They didn't know they are walking over

The graves of their dreams laid beneath them

Taunting them with treacherous lies

His arm around her sheltering her from evil

IV. The diagnosis

Her heart crumpled into pieces as she held the paper

It doomed her most beloved to death

Three months to live a lifetime of memories

He said it’d be fine that they would meet in another life

But no matter what she still couldn't bear it

It was if she'd rather him live than her

They say you can't find your true love in high school

She, however, knew better

Life is truly so short

She thought herself a fool not to realize

It would take a miracle to save him now

V. The following months

She laid the roses by the grave she stood over

She let a single tear fall from her cheek

He came up behind her and planted a kiss on her lips

“Your grandmother would be so proud of you”

Her grandmother saw something special in their love

Without her permission, the old fragile woman

Doomed herself to death

A life for a more important life she wrote in her final letter

Make the most of it

You never know what can happen

It's like nothing is good enough for you

I can never reach that expectation

You're all I need though

I give you my love my heart

Buts it's never enough

What will it finally take to reach you

To accomplish your standards

Well you set them so high

Even if I reached for the stars

I wouldn't find them

Your ignorance is your demise

And I am a fool to still want you

I give you all I have

When we kiss I can't think

I forget my own name

I give you too much

And it's still never enough

And even through all of it

I’d still do it again for you

Mary is a fairy

Who has a pet canary

She went to pick some strawberries

To go with her cup of dairy

But the strawberries were too hairy

And that is just plain scary.

This is John the leprechaun

Who mowed the lawn at the break of dawn

To earn some money to buy a pawn

He went to the kitchen for some pecans

Poor little leprechaun the pecans were all gone.

Hi, I like pie

That's my reply when you say hi

Oh me oh my, you'r such a smart guy

Look at the sky, I'll tell you why

The cloud looks like a piece of pie

To conclude this rhyme, I say bye bye

Hi, bye, I like PIE!

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the trail to Hell,

In a shady meadow green

Are the Souls of all dead troopers camped,

Near a good old-time canteen.

And this eternal resting place

Is known as Fiddlers’ Green.

Marching past, straight through to Hell

The Infantry are seen.

Accompanied by the Engineers,

Artillery and Marines,

For none but the shades of Cavalrymen

Dismount at Fiddlers’ Green.

Though some go curving down the trail

To seek a warmer scene.

No trooper ever gets to Hell

Ere he’s emptied his canteen.

And so rides back to drink again

With friends at Fiddlers’ Green.

And so when man and horse go down

Beneath a saber keen,

Or in a roaring charge of fierce melee

You stop a bullet clean,

And the hostiles come to get your scalp,

Just empty your canteen,

And put your pistol to your head

And go to Fiddlers’ Green.

(the bold words are meant to be emphasised)

I never said she stole my money

My mother made the claim

I knew shed never lie so it must have been true

Now my days are filled with melancholy and tears of blue

I never said she stole my money

How could I make such an accusation

She is to sweet to ever act that way

But she did leave after the check in May

I never said she stole my money

I thought it those days i spent alone

Crying by myself on the bathroom floor

Oh the love I gave her, but she still walked out the door

I never said she stole my money

She had a lover take the blame

He was left rotting dying

While she spent her days shopping buying

I never said she stole my money

Just took it without my blessing

She did give a gift in return

That made all my possessions burn

I never said she stole my money

It was ours to share

But then she ripped my heart out

Then wandered about

I never said she stole my money

She had a far bigger prize

She stole my heart my love

Then flew away, a beautiful dove

So what’s society’s deal with picking on the weak

Just bc we seem strong on the outside

You think that gives you the right to dish out the hate

Never judge a book by its cover

I seem like i can take it

But inside I’m breakin

So quick to insult

Yet halt

At a simple compliment

Too much fat here

Not pretty enough there

We are card dealers handing out destructive insults faster than our hearts beat

Yet when we ask for something so simple as a compliment

We can’t amount to it

People say time heals a broken heart

But broken hearts don’t just heal from time alone

You have to find all the pieces and figure out where they fit

That’s why it takes time

But the pieces won’t fit the same way they did before the break

You have to find a new way to make them fit together

And if you get it just right

Your heart will be stronger

And you can love harder than before

Because the heart that knows no pain

Can’t love as much as one that does

Take it from someone who knows

How to heal a broken heart
