POC Littlespace resources (mainly UK based)

So apologies in advance if this is in the wrong thread but I'd like to share a website I found today.

Now as someone in the POC little community I've found it hard to feel like I "fit in" at times because when you look on Tumblr and Instagram on the ddlg/cgl tags the content is mostly white littles and caregivers (not saying its the only content before someone decides to say anything) and that can be a little disheartening at times. On fetlife especially it can be harder to find caregivers that are willing to take on POC littles (and hard to find POC caregivers at that).

Now also add the factor of finding dolls that look like you and basically little stuff that caters to your needs. I understand that in America its waaay more tolerant of these things and there is still quite a diverse community but for some reason the UK lacks that diversity too. Today I was looking for ethnically diverse dolls that were not also super expensive and I eventually found a good site that ALSO ships in the UK (apart from looking on Ebay your biggest bet is hoping American stores ship worldwide)

Anyway so I found this website online (https://www.icecreamtoysandbooks.com/) and not only do the do ethnic dolls but they also provide ethnic books to help teach black girls (and littles!) that can love their skin and love their hair which is an amazing confidence boost!

I apologise if my post cause controversy or offends anyone but I thought I would share this for my POC littles and the caregivers that love them especially those in the UK who would otherwise find it harder to access these resources (also you don't have to be a POC little to like these too as long as it helps spread diversity)

I'm sorry it's been so difficult for you :(

I think it mostly comes down to representation and what the stereotypical view of a little is, that's why its more common to have little girls and daddies and is harder to find little boys and mummies. Now when you also add a factor that doesn't fit the stereotypical mold it takes a while to gain more acceptance. I mean POC littles and caregivers exist just like the MD/lb community, its just harder to find

I can't speak for the UK as I am in Florida, but I've had no issues in this area. It is actually really extremely rare for me to even consider or look at race but if that is something important to you then I can sympathize because it can be difficult. Good luck. :)

Have you looked in a toys store called Smyths? I'm in the uk and have one near me and they do have some of the loveliest dolls, in all sorts of skin types and are reasonably priced and if you have a hunt round there is usually stuff on sale (can you tell it's my favourite toy store lol)

Hey I think it all depends on where you live too. Like I haven't fully checked out Smyths yet online (because don't have any major toystores near where I live currently just indie shops) but I've noticed that Toys r Us do 3 ethnic dolls but they closest availability to me is London which is like an hour and half away.

Our Generation Girls dolls are like the UK version of the American Girl dolls or whatever and they are quite diverse but its mostly toddler type dolls rather than baby dolls and Argos that I've seen have only RECENTLY brought back one ethnic baby doll but who knows how long that will be available and also one ethnic toddler doll.

I mean its not the greatest but at least its something, just hope they bring out more stuff because they would make a lot more sales

This is just for dolls but I keep up with my dolls by following http://blackdollcollecting.blogspot.com

She posts all kinds of ethnic dolls and doll lines as they come out on the market!

Thank you, I can imagine some of these would be a little hard to acquire in the UK but its still refreshing to see this! :D
