Guest mlkykit Posted May 22, 2017 Report Posted May 22, 2017 I feel this because I'm the same way. I go into a panic whenever I have to meet new folk and it's hindered a lot of opportunities I could have had professionally or personally. I will go out of my way to avoid people because it's so stressful having them look at me or conversing. How I handle it sometimes is to remind myself that they're just people who know nothing about me and thus, couldn't have anything bad to say about or to me. It's hard - so very hard - but the more you do it, the easier it'll get. Really, the only way you can overcome social anxiety is to get out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to talk to people, if even for 5 minutes. If it gets to a point where it makes functioning normally an issue, then therapy is the best option.
littlesuzy Posted May 23, 2017 Author Report Posted May 23, 2017 thank you so mush mIkykit it means a lot
Ami29 Posted May 23, 2017 Report Posted May 23, 2017 I used to be like that long time ago, but I got help from my mom. She used to ask me to smile at strangers of my age and after a while she used to ask me to try small talks for 2-5 minutes.it would work better if you are in you comfort zone like somewhere you know, mine was my neighborhood park..sooo now I still feel shy around new people but only lasts for half an hour max. Try talking to old people like grandparents old or kids (the cute ages are toddlers not the mean teens ,lol) Just keep on mind to start small steps, and if you get panic attacks, try and seek a professional just like mlkykit said. Wish you the best Amy..hugs
