Guest Maru Posted May 19, 2017 Report Posted May 19, 2017 You know those channels about being a little and all that? Where people show their cute stuff, talk about what they do in their little space etc. I really want to make such videos! But I'm super insecure (didn't choose this username for no reason I suppose, hah). You see. Those people I see on youtube are small/skinny and adorably cute girls.Me? Fat thing, not girly at all (am i even a girl?? idk nah i dont think so), stutters or something when talking, ugly smile, autistic. I'm just afraid people will judge me. Not getting views wouldn't bother me. And I know some hate comments will happen, there always are. But I'm afriad /nobody/ will enjoy my videos. Not even people in the community. Because I don't look like the average little...at all.I'm also scared that my real life friends/family will find my channel and see the videos because nobody knows I'm a little... But like... in all honesty... would you watch the channel of a little described the way I describe myself? Do I even stand a /chance/? I want to do it because I love being a little and I also love editing videos... but I'm not cute at all and I'm just...awkward. 2
lifeasalittle Posted May 19, 2017 Report Posted May 19, 2017 I love watching ddlg videos, you should definitely try!!! Littles come in all skin colors, sizes, and attitudes. There's no ideal little, or person for that matter. Never compare yourself to others, you're beautiful as you are c: That being said, if you are underage and/or depend on your family financially I would hold off. Just in case they do find the videos. Good luck!!

Good luck!! Thank you for the reply! I am not underage and I'm about to finally move out, therefore I'm doing okay without them. Though I prefer to keep them. I don't believe they'll freak out, mom knows of my sippy cups and she's cool with that. I'm just still nervous about it. I may try to do it when I move out to my small apartment. When I do I'll finally order a onesie which I don't dare to order when I still live here ~
Guest Princessaj Posted May 20, 2017 Report Posted May 20, 2017 Hi and good on you for reaching out and reaching in... Why not break this into stages? Just focus on doing one video. Think about the following things...BTW- I work with youtubers...I think if you get into some of the details I suggest, your confidence will rise a little at a time because you paid attention to what affects your audience and they will thank you for it. I am just typing away, so what you read below is in no specific order of importance. Choose some or not at all. 1. Topic..can be important to you and that is fine. Maybe make a list of the common topics you see in existing videos and choose to cover something that you don't see much of. Perhaps there is something about being a little that really makes your heart and soul sing? By focusing on this topic...you will smile more, have more energy, you will light up naturally and you will reach right through the screen to your audience and give them a big hug. Maybe write out a stream of consciousness? That means what comes to mind as it comes and comes. no matter spelling, punctuation..you are not writing a script, you are organizing your mind/thoughts. Then break it down into the most important points, bullet points..perhaps no more than 5. Talk to yourself on camera, in the mirror, practice, practice...because when you are on camera you just want it to flow and show off your personality. 2. Length of video. The average most engaging viewer only sits still for under 3 minutes. That is based on data collected in the big fancy companies that track many things that people do when they eat entertainment. Remember this is entertainment. 3 minutes can feel like a long time too when you are recording. 3. You are pretty, you just have to figure out what kind of pretty on camera. There are so many things to help with this. For your appearance, think about you hair, make-up, jewelry and how your top is fitting. -Check how the colors look on camera. The camera can really change colors so very much. This goes for hair, make-up, tops and what is seen around you. -Do some tests on your make-up....this is not about being girly at ALL. This is about how flattering the shape of your face can be with some help with make-up. There a lots of great youtubers that teach about contour and that is one of the best ways to give your face definition no matter what your gender. Just do a search, you will find lots of choices and practice, practice, practice.. -The best hair is the simpler the better. That doesn't mean it can't be pink. If your hair is sticking out places people will be looking at that and not paying attention to your great story telling. -At what point of view the camera is sitting can make all the difference in how we appear. Try different positions, heights and angles. There is no rule that the camera must face you straight on. -Sitting...in a chair, on a couch, on the floor, lying on your side/tummy, curled up in your pillows...play with this. Has to be comfortable and your audience will know if you are not. -Lighting is really a great friend or our enemy. Try natural light in front of windows, or windows to the side...again this takes lots of tries. Best not to have shadows as they are distracting. Maybe in the dark with a light on you? All kinds of options. -The background is crucial. Check for things that could look like they are sticking out of your head. A blank background is my preference. Maybe hang some fairy lights? You can test all of this so many times until you feel good about sharing it. 4. Energy, personality and story telling...If nothing else do think on these things. You are really sitting and having a cup of coffee/tea/soda with your mates, with us. You are special and there is no one like you. Be in your body connected to your feelings, breathing, your body temperature. Make sure you are comfortable. 5. The best part is that you do not have to show this to the public. You can set your channel on private and only share the link with whom you would like. You can also delete it. This is a wonderful way to express yourself, tell your stories and be part of the community. Go for it. If you have any questions or just want clarity, please pm me. Hugs. 2
cuppycakes Posted May 20, 2017 Report Posted May 20, 2017 I wanted to say that your fears are just like how a lot of black littles feel (from what I've gathered, anyway). You see a stereotype of a small white girl of around 90 lbs and you think you don't really belong. You belong, and you'll find an audience. You aren't selling anything, so I think you could even post your youtube channel on here for others to find you? Don't quote me on that, though, ask a mod to be sure. I also wanted to say that my 2 favorite little youtubers are black! And neither one is super tiny, either. Don't let stereotypes define what you want to do!
