CottonTail_* Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 I have a birthday coming up, now don't get me wrong, I love my birthday. A whole day to be a princess? Yes, please! But ever since turing 21 I've had issues with "getting older." My 21st birthday I had a meltdown, I was "too old," officially an adult. It's actually rather complicated... Because I enjoy getting older, I feel like I can see a growth in the way my mind works, but I HATE the number associated with it. I've always thought this was because of things that had happened to me in my past, but lately I've been wondering if it has to do somewhat with "being a little". As a little, does aging bother you? The number? Or how you physically look? The things you're capable of? The way others see you? (Anyway, this is a really... touchy? complicated? issue for me and I was just curious if anyone else felt similar or had some insight?) 1
MellyBoo19912015 Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 You know I've never thought about my age. Beyond the jokes of getting old lol. I'm still as excited about my birthday as when I was a kid. Plus it's always the best opportunity to get my brother to do things he considers too girly. I think I hate the fact people see me and think because I am adult I should be super responsible. Responsibility officially sucks. Majorly.
Sophie Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 The number bothers me too. I really didn't enjoy my 20th birthday. I felt too old and didn't like not having 'teen' in my age anymore. 1
Guest Sae Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 For me, when I first turned 20 I was really excited. I was excited because its another year I've lived! :3 But I've had other friends worry. Just try and remember its nothing more than a number. It doesn't limit your fun, or anything else. You're still allowed to do whatever you want to do! :3
BH_Bambi Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 I like my birthdays! I'm quite a mature person when I'm not feeling little, so it's nice for the number to match how I'm treated and behave! Also, my Big and I have an awkward age gap. It's only 4 years, but I'm 18. The further away I get from "just legal", the more accepting people are of us. Plus, Sir knows I'm only 6, no matter what my birthday cake says!
Xia Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 I personally struggle with most holidays, birthdays included, as I'm nowhere near my family and Daddy's doesn't care. I am a keep-to-myself kinda person, so I have no close friends locally either. >< But I'm having a mental breakdown everyday about my age- so I don't worry about that on the day. But then again I'm only 21 so it doesn't affect little me.
ashwee Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 CottonTail_*, you couldn't have expressed the way I feel any better, so I can't agree with you more. The idea of getting older really does kinda upset me, but I think what is really important is how you feel inside. I will forever be my little age no matter how old I age physically I try to think of age as an irrelevant count of how many times I've been around the Sun 1
DaddyJsPrincess Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 Way to make me feel old guys jk. I'm 27...some days I struggle with it and others it's fine. I had kind of a rough time with it until recently. I think since puberty doesn't actually end until 25 or so, so that might contribute a little bit to the uncomfortableness of getting older I guess. Even though now I'm more worried about gray hairs lol! 2
meow Posted May 7, 2015 Report Posted May 7, 2015 When I had my 18th birthday I freaked out. I don't want to get any older. I'm kind of looking forward to 21 for drinks, but also really NOT because I will always have to buy them for me and daddy since he's younger than me by a year :c I hate doing this type of stuff. For example when we were younger and I'd buy him cigarettes, (now I don't have to) but I hate hate hate it.
