Just wondering if you believe there is a difference between a 'kink' and a 'fetish' and what that difference is :)
Thanks!

I think the technical definition of a fetish is "adoration and idolisation of an object" - so it's more of a physical item/items, where a kink is more of a concept.

ageplay is a kink, and diapers are a fetish.

bondage is a kink, or you can have a fetish for ropes and chains,

a medical kink, or a fetish for thermometers.

try to think of more, it's not easy.

Kink or Fetish?

People use the terms kink and fetish interchangeably but they are different. Kinks and fetishes can be mixed together or you could enjoy either one. A kink is something done to enhance sex/intimacy with your partner(s) and sometimes can be done by yourself. A kink can be hair pulling, spankings, choking, fisting, roleplay  etc. anything that isn't considered conventional that arouses people.

A fetish is when someone uses an object (something that is typically vanilla) or situation to achieve sexual arousal.Example: foot fetish is a pretty common one. There's nothing sexual or stimulating about a person's foot but for someone who has a foot fetish they need to see/touch/fantasize or think about feet in order to become aroused and eventually cum.

I was under the impression that in laymen use or inside the kink community it's interchangeable but in academia a fetish is a sexual obsession that you need to have to achieve an orgasm whereas a kink is just a sexual interest.
