Spooky Posted April 30, 2017 Report Posted April 30, 2017 What are your favorite plants, trees, bushes, shrubs and flowers?! GO!(I like birches, hydrangeas & cherry blossoms. Looking for some inspiration for our new yard)
Guest Posted April 30, 2017 Report Posted April 30, 2017 My favorite tree is a Ginko. Favorite flowers would be gardenias or orchids. Milk weed is also cool for butterflys. 1
Guest Panda.Princess Posted April 30, 2017 Report Posted April 30, 2017 Azaleas get pretty sizeable and are gorgeous! Also Peonies 1
Guest LittleCatLover Posted April 30, 2017 Report Posted April 30, 2017 I love tulips (always plant in groups of about 10 flowers, only that way will they look truly stunning, please don't seperate) and also poppies. They just have this gorgeous red shine Redcurrant, raspberry and strawberry can also look very pretty, plus you get the fruits (great little snacks! We always dip our redcurrants in sugar and eat them, which is kinda naughty, but sooo delicious! The sweetnes of the sugar with the tartness of the redcurrant ) Coneflowers, Goldsturm Black Eyed Susan and Cornflowers are also stunning (especially mixing cornflowers and poppies together, they look so amazing ) sorry, I got a bit excited 1
alotalittle Posted April 30, 2017 Report Posted April 30, 2017 I often joke that instead of a Green Thumb, I have the Black Thumb of Death. Growing thing is incredibly difficult for me because I tend to give plants too much love or not nearly enough. However, I've got two small cacti in my house that have been doing well for a couple years and this year, I decided to be bold and plant a TON of wildflower seeds outside. The wildflowers seem to be growing thanks to Mother Nature's rain and sunshine If they turn out nice, it might inspire me to plant more things.

Oddly enough, a cacti is the one thing I cannot keep alive! 1
LoonyLoveMay Posted May 1, 2017 Report Posted May 1, 2017 Oooohhh! I know! it's just the same for me! I don't know why... I'm pretty good with the rest of the plants... Also i love roses and hydrangeas, jasmine and night-blooming jasmine ( this plan gives a really tiny flower but has an incredible sweet smell at night! It's also know as queen of the night!!!) Right now I'm working in a vegetable garden! I'm growing tomatos, brocoli, sweet pepper, zucchini and strawberry! I'm making it from scratch so it's been kind of an experiment in urban gardens! If you have some space, you can try growing your own food! It's a lot of fun! 1
Guest littleloveslars Posted May 1, 2017 Report Posted May 1, 2017 It depends on what you are trying to grow. I have a little pink dogwood in my yard and i love it so much. If you're looking for a perennial that is low maintenance hostas are great. If you want to feed the bees whilst keeping pests away from vegetables and herbs i would suggest lavender and marigolds. Where we live birches are prone to disease. Our mature birch in our yard is dead sadly. Magnolias make beautiful shrubs and trees but can get pretty big. 1
