LittleBlackRose Posted April 21, 2017 Report Posted April 21, 2017 I know that the Dom I had knew much, much more than me and therefore he pushed me to research everything I could. One of the things that troubled me before I found DD/lg was the inconsistent delineation between sub and slave. I only found a couple of articles that flatly said that while every slave is a sub, not every sub is a slave. The fact that sub and slave were interchanged so often led me to look for a more middle ground or gentle description. In writing your informational book, which I think is a fabulous idea (especially if it is approachable to people still deciding how vanilla they are), it would be great to see a more balanced approach regarding the spectrum of D/s. It might also be worth looking into presenting the variance between "old leather" and current trends. Odds are a new sub will run into plenty of both. I, for one, am always trying to learn more about the historical context the current practices come from. Going forward I expect that my next Dom will still know more than I do, and that does add a measure of security to me, but I want to be more informed as well. Realistically, I wouldn't be part of this forum if I didn't.
Guest Princessaj Posted April 22, 2017 Report Posted April 22, 2017 Hi, I am loving this thread... I want to make a suggestion based on a very popular book from the past called "Chicken Soup for the Soul" (this book has nothing to do with BDSM or DDlg). Mine is a format/template suggestion, not a content suggestion. Jack Canfield, the author, used/included people's stories on each topic to show how things can be done. The series of books on so many topics have been published in epic proportion because reader's like to see what other/many people are doing/how they handled something. www.chickensoup.com this site shows you the multitude of books using the hook of explaining a topic by way of using people's stories to illustrate and/or explain the topic. I am suggesting to do a "Chicken Soup for the Soul for DDlg." You can make a master template of the topic/chapter with an intro you write, then as the chapter proceeds you introduce the stories that explain topics to the reader to gain from a collection of knowledge. This way completely shows that there is NOT only one way to do something. Once you know the skeleton of the book, you might want to put out a call to action to gather stories, all confidential. Ask people for their experiences on the topics and be sure to be well rounded in your selection. Be global, include a diverse sampling of people from different countries, different ages, ethnicity, religion, gender-male-female-gay...poly, monogamous, long distance, married, 24/7 and so forth. With this format, there will be a clear understanding that ddlg is made up of so many points of view. Happy to explain, brainstorm....Rock On! Hugs
Leo_Ascendent Posted April 22, 2017 Report Posted April 22, 2017 @Candy Minx, that just sounds like an a-hole who calls himself a DD so he can have someone to boss around and control, which obviously, isn't how ANY relationship works. What's worse is it sounds like it had happened so much that she thinks that's how out should be.
Guest Daddy's☆treasure Posted April 23, 2017 Report Posted April 23, 2017 Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions! I really appreciate it and the support.
