Filling your own "Tank"

Recommended Posts

This morning I woke up exhausted, depressed and filled with pain- emotional and physical.  Why am I writing this? not to get sympathy, I don’t care about that.  I’m writing this because every day I’m trying to help keep everyone else’s mood and spirits lifted, to help them with their problems, troubles, worries and maybe once in a blue moon, I get an offer to help me with my own.

This can lead to physical and mental exhaustion as well as spiritual and it can hit you like 50 tons of bricks when it happens.  Think of it as running a car for 200 miles on just fumes and then it finally konks out on you, completely spent and worn out.

when this happens, u have to do something to re-fill your ‘tank’ and re-energize yourself .  Choose whatever method works best for you- whether that’s reading, listening to music, going for a walk, going to the lake or ocean side, playing with pets or whatever you’re passionate about.  If you don’t feel up to it, that’s when you NEED to do it even more.

It will get better again, you will be re-filled and you will be able to go another umpteen miles on that full ‘tank’ - just never lose site in the fact that you need to take care of YOU before you can take care of anyone else.

I love this, it's super important that people take time out for themselves!!!

(a nice bubble bath and a good book is my go-to for refilling the tank)

thank you Spooky; yes those work wonders, add a lil lavender essential oil to the bath- provided it's a bubble bath or the oil will just sit on top of the water, or u can add some dried lavender in a small satchel and you have a nice rejuvenating bath :)

I usually go for walks and end up in an ice cream or coffee shop and just relax there and then walk some more. But lately that doesn't feel like it's enough, I would love to hear what everyone else does and hopefully I will figure out something that will work better for me.

Amazing post. As someone who lives to help others, I can relate to this feeling. The worst part is, burnout comes out of no where and you're left defenseless when  it does.

Exactly Omega, that's exactly how it feels.

Using essential oils like orange, grapefruit, lavender, lime, cinnamon are also great ways to enhance your mood when you're feeling down and to re-energize you
