JohnApple Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 Hello everyone! I love to travel, and every year I do myself a favor and take a "big" vacation so I can unwind and just enjoy life! Well that time of year is fast approaching, and this year I want to do something a little bigger than previous years. I'm looking to book a solo, 6 day-5 night vacation somewhere across the country (USA), but I need help picking just where to go! I currently reside in Michigan, and as I've pretty much seen just about every part of the Midwest, I'd like to go as far from home (but within the country) as possible. Some info: I'm traveling solo. I'll be traveling in the spring and prefer warm places. Beaches are a plus, but not necessary. I'd like somewhere with scenery. Being close/in a city would also be a plus, but not required. I haven't seen ANY part of the western side of the country so far. I've been to Florida lots of times, but if there's a really awesome place there I wouldn't be against going back! I'd love to hear everyones' favorite vacation spots, and I'd be immensely grateful for any suggestions I get! Thank you!
princesspixie Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 My family has gone to North Carolina to the beaches there quite a few times, and they're pretty nice, usually around Kitty Hawk, but other areas as well. Lots of stuff to do, some pretty cool sand dunes, boardwalks, and some neat shops (once you get past the touristy places).
Frog Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 Expanding on what princesspixie said, the Outer Banks of NC can be good. There are historical sites on the Graveyard of the Atlantic. If that's too much of a tourist trap, there are other places near Nags Head (actual Nags Head is very tourist-y). I've heard Surf City and Wilmington are nice. One thing you could do is plan a series of visits. For instance, strive to visit various aquariums or parks. Then you could plan not a single trip but a series of smaller trips rolled into one larger trip.
KinkDaddy1971 Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 Maybe the southwestern part of the USA, like Arizona, Nevada, and California. They are relatively warm in the Spring. There are numerous national parks and some interesting attractions, especially Las Vegas and Grand Canyon.
xXBunBunSharkXx Posted February 12, 2017 Report Posted February 12, 2017 I was just there But it was pretty fun. San Francisco is really fun if you like the city, there is also the golden state park and more forest near by. It is truly breathtaking, I really recommend it.
JohnApple Posted February 15, 2017 Author Report Posted February 15, 2017 Hey thanks for the suggestions everyone, I really appreciate it! I thought I would be notified if there were replies but I guess not! After considering the suggestions, I've decided to take two trips this year! My spring one will be in California (already booked!) and later in the summer, I'll take a journey in the Carolinas! I'm so exicted!
meegiewoo Posted February 17, 2017 Report Posted February 17, 2017 :c why go solo? I think vacation should be spent with someone or a friend!
