I saw my binky in a place that i didn't leave it before so I know my mom saw it. She hasn't mentioned anything yet but what excuse can I make as to why I have a binky in my room (18 years old).

Can you tell her that you like to chew on it and you thought it'd be a safe alternative to like, pencils or something?

why do you feel like you need to tell her tho? my guess is she hasn't said anything because she's trying to respect your privacy (I could be totally wrong tho). unless she asks you I wouldn't even bother.

if you feel like you need to tell her tho, go with what my foreposter sai.

best of luck

i don't know how well it would work due the fact that my mom is extremely close minded. it does help with my anxiety but she isn't very sympathetic towards me having anxiety and depression issues.

well, no, my mother does not respect my privacy. i'm sure the only reason she hasn't said anything is because the only other time i saw her today is when she was leaving for work. this post is only because i know she will ask, not because i'm confessing :( tank q for your input fwends

I just told my mum that it was for a friend that just had a baby (i have a few of those) and learn to hide it better. Mostly if I dont want someone to find somthing then I keep it on me at all times.

MAybe you can tell her you use it when you Take Drugs... helps you Feeeel you mouth!!   ;) .... lol ...

That would change the subject very fast! ;) ...

Or :

Prevent you from grindin your teeth in your sleep

Found it and you keep it for next Halloweeen costume

You like to have a binkie

friend has a baby and future gift

Dare a friend gave you to buy it and use it once ...

Etc !

You can start with the drug thing and say "Joking!" .. and go for "it was a dare! ..." ...

You could just say you use it for stimming. If you don't know what that is, it's self-stimulation. It comes in many forms, anything from repetitive motions, repeating words, or using something for sensory stimulation. You could say you use the soft fabric for stimming because it calms you down.

Depends if it's an adult one or not.

Adult ones people actually use to help with their snoring/grinding their teeth/stress.

The baby ones? Umm... My excuse was always "my little cousin/nephew must have left it here." A little bit trickier if you ask me.

I don't actually advise you to have the baby ones, I had to have braces put in when I was 15 because of it and eventually got them off at 18, I stopped using the baby ones when I got my braces in and had nothing, but the adult ones are great, I've had them for a year now and I can't recommend them enough.

My partners uncle and aunt asked about my adult dummies, we had an emergency at the flat and it was on the table so we told them we both use them sometimes for snoring and teeth grinding :]

My adult binkie was a real suggestion from my dentist for grinding. This is perfect for me.

I second what MisterMomo and BarbieLumina said-

I told my hubband (wasn't my Daddy yet) that it was to prevent me grinding on my awkward wisdom teeth. And to stop me accidentally biting my cheeks. Which it actually does work for both.

I find orthodontic/dental reasons are less unconventional. People seem to be more understanding.

well actually it's baby binky //: i don't really use it that often since an adult one is safer

Hopefully, she never brings it up....but if it does come up:

I would try to turn it into a joke. Say that you were complaining/whining to a friend/someone close to you way too much and they gave you a binky as a joke for "being such a baby". You can laugh it off and say that you just hadn't thrown it away, but it was a good reminder to be more positive about your life.

I find that jokes are a good way to avoid things I don't want to talk about.

I had an issue similar. Daddy's bio father went into our room and went through stuff and threw out all my pacis. I literally flipped out and he goes you guys dont have a baby there's no need for it so I told him they were from when I was pregnant and my daughter didn't make it. (which is true I do have a couple that were supposed to be for her they are in a different places).

LoL Harley! MilkyFawn being 18 and living with her mother... That explanation would be like a bomb!! Hehe...

For you.. sorry for your lost.

MilkyFawn! Did your mother finally asked? What did you tell her?

When my mother saw mine, I just explained that I have a bad habit with oral fixation, like biting nails/my lips, etc, and I read online that a lot of people use pacifiers as a safer, healthier alternative, so maybe try that?

If she hasn't mentioned it, though, maybe she just didn't think anything of it

When my parents find my little things I always say they were gag gifts from my friends- it usually works, especially when I roll my eyes or act like I don't even know why I kept it  B)  B)   *glitter*

I'd just say it wasn't mine or a gift for someones baby. I'm not sure how well a dental excuse would work since I'm guessing you still live at home and your parents would know about your dental health/habits like teeth grinding  :) If she doesn't mention it I wouldn't either lol
