Guest Boobear616 Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 (edited) Hi!! I'm sorta new to all this! (*,,ºัωºั,,) Mostly to joining a forums page. I recently realized that all this time I was a Switch, even though I always just thought I was childish and thought I might have Peter Pan Syndrome, which I guess isn't all that bad. Usually I just get dressed into lazy, around the house clothes, that bring me down. ू(ʚ̴̶̷́ .̠ ʚ̴̶̷̥̀ ू) Mostly because I'm plus size and I just don't feel like I can look cute. But lately I've been wanting to change a lot of things. Like I want to lose weight and start to actually dress nice. (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و But I just don't know where to get cute plus-sized clothes! Where does everyone get their clothes from? Especially Plus-sized lovelies? Also, to go on with my plan to lose weight, what are all of y'all's exercise routine? How'd y'all start off? DaddysMonkey Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 Well I will start of by saying that no matter what size you are I am sure you are just lovely ! You don't/shouldn't need to lose weight to feel good about yourself , but that doesn't mean you can't love yourself while you improve everyday ! I personally don't follow diets.. guess what word is in diet .... DIE. This is because diets make you feel like you want to die and you aren't allowed to have certain things. A healthy lifestyle and eating habits are fairly simple but not always easy to achieve ! The first and easiest thing I can say is to cut down soda ! Soda is a major bloat enhancer ! As well as full of unwanted sugars ! Instead , try lots and lots of water ! If you feel the need for that carbonation , there is carbonated waters and juices that are yummy ! Yes , you can still have a coke every now and then. Just maybe once or twice a week instead of every day. Three meals a day should be a given , with small healthy snacks in between. In the morning I normally have a fruit squeeze or some sort of apple sauce with water. For lunch , I love to eat fruits or salad. It digests easily and it is very healthy for you ! (as well as yummy) On any given day for lunch I can ea two whole mangoes , a salad , a couple apples and bananas , I have been known to eat a whole melon like honey dew or watermelon for a lunch as well ! Mix up your daily fruits or salads so you don't get bored and eat nuts and other things too for protein ! At dindin , I typically eat a lot more and it is my first cooked meal of the day. ( I usually like to try and follow a vegan Raw till 4pm lifestyle but I will occasionally eat meats) I can normally eat two good sized cooked potatoes , sushi , vegan pizzas , french fries (with no salt) , lots of veggies like asparagus as well ! I used to struggle with an eating disorder and the Rawtill 4 , vegan (ish for me) lifestyle has really changed my life. There is an abundance of choice in foods and you can always be full ! WITHOUT GUILT ! As for working out , if you are new to it I would say start by walking and lifting light weights. Or maybe you could go on bike rides as well if your schedule allows it ! https://www.youtube.com/user/Freelea She isn't everyone's favorite , but she does have great advice on how to have a healthy and happy lifestyle. Hope this helps ! <3 1
Guest cinderella Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 I love this thread. I am struggling with this as well. I have clothes that by each piece may be cute alone but nothing to pair them with. While you may find some not so cute things, Roaman's and Cato offer lots of great clothing for us curvy girls. On the food deal, that was a great idea. I had surgery in September and have always been a bigger girl but have packed on a few pounds due to inactivity and I have successfully cut soda out completely. I drink water and coffee. I still haven't been able to not flavor my water, but I use a no-calorie flavoring. While it may have sweeteners that aren't popular, it's better for me than soda. Good luck to us all and stay lovely!!
IchigoHime Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 I'm also a bigger little. Right now I am at the biggest I have ever been and I really want to lose weight again. While I have always been bigger, losing weight used to be easier for me. Nowadays I am in a lot of pain and whenever I try to exercise I end up hurting in my back long before I feel anything in my muscles. I'm currently on a detox so I have been drinking tons of water and about a glass of cranberry juice a day. I also am taking SlimQuik, which helps clean out your colon and give you a jumpstart on losing weight. I think outside of exercise and eating healthy, the best way to lose weight is to drink a ton of water and if you can mix flax seed in with smoothies in the morning. Sorry, I'm not much help in the clothing department, I have trouble finding stuff that fits me too. The only place I know of is Torrid.
SassyAssyBrat Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 I posted about this recently, and I got some amazing answers. My two favorites thus far are Torrid and Hot Topic <3 1
MisterMomo Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 For cute training not too hard to do... i use an app named sworkit kids. It is fun and easy access 1
LoralieHaze Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 If you look at this list, here are some threads about plus size clothing. I get about 75% of my clothes (including undies) from Torrid, as mentioned above. Other places to look would be Hot Topic, Old Navy, Target, ModCloth. Forever21 and ASOS have plus size clothes but they only go up to about 20 and I'm a 24/26 so I don't shop there. For maybe a month now, or a little bit longer, I've been doing these exercise videos on youtube, Chris Powell Level 1 and Level 2, four or five times a week. I don't weigh myself (for various reasons that I won't go into here) but I've noticed that my jeans feel significantly looser and I now fit into certain things that were too small a few months ago. I haven't even changed my eating habits yet, besides eating less sweets, and I can't drink soda because of a side effect from meds. Lastly, from what I've seen of this Freelea girl, she seems like an awful person who gives horrible advice. Please don't eat 30 bananas a day, that's not even remotely healthy.
Guest QueenJellybean Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 I love the suggestions about clothing from up above! I also highly recommend scoping out online stores, such as Etsy and even Amazon for some good steals in the Plus-size department. I get all my underwear at Torrid, and Aerie, but my clothes are a mixture of online stores and department stores that are local to me. As for routines to get healthy, I've found that bettering your health for yourself can be really, really fun! My girlfriend and I go to Planet Fitness a few times a week, and we do a lot of strength training (weights) and cardio together! I find having a work-out buddy makes me a lot more accountable, and I enjoy going more if it becomes our weekly dish session. We try to go when we both get home from our work days because it's become a really great way to unwind and relax. And we feel better about ourselves! We've also made a Househould decision to start cooking meals more. Beast is a fantastic chef, so we eat a lot of fish and chicken. I've found that making snack choices that are less about processed foods and more based around fruits and vegetables help me with my hunger a lot too! As long as allergies aren't a concern, I highly recommend mixed nuts. (I prefer mine in the shell, cracking them is fun!). Apples with peanut butter. Carrot sticks. Dried fruit is a really good one too. Invest in those applesauce pouches! Switch from juice with high amounts of sugar to Crystal Light drinks or Motts for Tots (a personal favorite.) Try cutting out snacking past a certain time in the evening. (That one has helped me a lot.) And remember to eat something beneficial for breakfast, not just the first and easiest thing you see! I think the biggest advice I can give you for getting healthier besides doing it for yourself and because you want to is to just stay active. Even if it's going on walks with your dog/partner/best friend, or taking the stairs when you could take the elevator. Do things that make you feel good about yourself, and wear things that inspire you to keep changing yourself into who you want to be. <3
Antoinette Posted December 6, 2016 Report Posted December 6, 2016 (edited) Lastly, from what I've seen of this Freelea girl, she seems like an awful person who gives horrible advice. Please don't eat 30 bananas a day, that's not even remotely healthy. Freelee the Banana Girl doesn't give horrible advice whatsoever, she's more so a passionate vegan who takes activism a step too far. Eating thirty bananas a day is not going to have the same side effects for everybody but it certainly isn't unhealthy. I'm vegan and sometimes I go a whole week only eating one type of fruit and my blood tests are absolutely perfect, I'm pretty much in peak health and I would still be if I ate thirty bananas a day. Which, by the way, isn't what she's about whatsoever - she's probably one of the most positive people on YouTube. Some things work for some people and for others they don't, that's just how it is. If you don't wanna be vegan or if it doesn't work for you, don't be vegan; in the long run, it really doesn't matter. If you do want to be vegan and reap the health benefits - more power to you. So sure, if you think promoting veganism is horrible advice, whatever - you have every right to think that. Hi!! I'm sorta new to all this! (*,,ºัωºั,,) Mostly to joining a forums page. I recently realized that all this time I was a Switch, even though I always just thought I was childish and thought I might have Peter Pan Syndrome, which I guess isn't all that bad. Where does everyone get their clothes from? Especially Plus-sized lovelies? Also, to go on with my plan to lose weight, what are all of y'all's exercise routine? How'd y'all start off? Sorry, Boobear, for not answering you first - I felt the need to get that out of the way. Although I don't know much about clothing I do know an awful lot about health and nutrition. Your diet is the main factor in losing weight effectively - no, this doesn't mean you have to restrict everything that you eat and just eat horrible lettuce and carrots all the time; I'd probably literally die if I had to do that; rather it is about finding a balance and finding something that works for you. I would advise cutting down on meat and dairy as it is true that they don't help if you're trying to lose weight but by no means am I telling you to become a full fledged vegan like me - that's your decision and it always will be yours. A lie that has been fed to us through the media and misconception is that the higher your calories the more unhealthy you're eating and the more likely you are to gain weight - while this holds true if you're eating 2,000+ calories of absolute rubbish, it doesn't hold true if you're getting the majority of your calories from things like fruit, veg, lentils, and so on. Another lie that we've been told is that carbs are bad. Which I cannot believe people actually believe. I am a high carb, low fat vegan (much like Freelee the Banana Girl) and I am by no means overweight. I am 4'11'' and 120 pounds, give or take - if you look at a BMI scale you will see that I am bordering on overweight but what BMI doesn't take into account is muscle mass, bone density, so on and so-forth, so if you look at a BMI scale and feel disheartened, don't worry about it. Like I said before my blood tests are pretty much perfect, I have a cholesterol-free diet and I am quite proud of the fact that I don't eat my animal friends (even though that's not the reason I'm vegan). So, if you're looking to lose weight my main tips for you are: 1) Cut down on animal products. 2) Eat high carbs and low fat. 3) Eat until you are full. (as to not get urges to binge later on) 4) Have a steady exercise schedule that suits your abilities, while also challenging you. Hope I helped! Edited December 6, 2016 by xAntoinette 1
splendabae Posted December 7, 2016 Report Posted December 7, 2016 Forever21+ has really cute clothes and they have lots of sales! i also thrift a lot, mostly for moral reasons, but thrift stores have a lot more choices than you'd think. there are some online thrift sites, but i prefer to do my thrifting in person. all the other places that were recommended are pretty good too. exercise wise, i dont do it on purpose lol. i skateboard, walk dogs and i walk almost everywhere in the summer. also i've found keeping healthy snacks around really helps, but i do cave a lot and buy chips or sweets every once and a while. it's ok to treat yourself!
