Lil' Miss Dolly Posted November 10, 2016 Report Posted November 10, 2016 Found out today I need surgery on my jaw I always wondered why I never had issues with my wisdom teeth in high school like my peers..turns out they grew in completely sideways and are now cutting off the blood circulation! I'm kinda freaked out. They are talking about breaking oarts of my jawbone thankfully I'll be asleep for it but I'm truthfully scared poopless about the pain afterwards! Has anyone else had this issue or this surgery?? How bad is the healing going to be? I refuse to take opiates so strongest stuff I'll have available is naproxen.
Alaskan Daddy Posted November 10, 2016 Report Posted November 10, 2016 I have had something similar with my wisdom teeth and had to have them cut out, and part of my jaw bone grafted. I was painful and took about a week for me to feel 90% better. I can't remember what pain meds I took but I know I did not take any opiates. Just expect to feel crappy for 4 or 5 days. Get plenty of rest and eat lots of soup or high nutrition liquids 1
Lil' Miss Dolly Posted November 10, 2016 Author Report Posted November 10, 2016 I am planning on living off of protein smoothies and whatever else I can throw in my blender!
Alaskan Daddy Posted November 10, 2016 Report Posted November 10, 2016 What helped me was fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin c. as well as foods like black beans, broccoli, and soy.
Whispering-oak Posted November 11, 2016 Report Posted November 11, 2016 I had this done when i was in 11 grade... same problem... for a week or two you look like a chipmunk and have to have soup and soft foods for a couple weeks ...until the wound heals... they cracked my jaw bone on both sides and i was eating regular soft foods after two weeks.. it is not as bad as it sounds ... i remember being scared too. after a couple weeks you will be looking back and saying "no big deal its done" ... Guest Princessaj Posted November 11, 2016 Report Posted November 11, 2016 I am sorry to hear you are having this health challenge. Its great that you have your Daddy to help. I wanted to suggest some basic surgery housekeeping helpers -Prepare your bed and pjs so you can go straight to bed. -You may want to cover pillows with towels you can wash if you drool. -laundry done so you are not thinking about it and have fresh things for when you want them. -make a little handy station at your bedside for meds, tissue, phone, remote control, etc. -any special bathing things that you want to close at hand, wash cloths to refresh, soap Preparation is the key. Spoil yourself Hugs 2
Lil' Miss Dolly Posted November 11, 2016 Author Report Posted November 11, 2016 Dominus is in the ball! He is going out next week to stock the house with soft tasty stuff to nom. I have also been promised new feetie pajamas and a new stuffie if I promise not to bite anyone! We are also getting a new charger for my laptop (my jerk off of a terrier chewed mine this week) so I can lay in bed and watch Crunchy Roll. Normally electronics are not allowed in Daddys bedroom but he's making an exception this time. Thank you for all the awesome responses and AJ I will definitely start my prep stuff tomorrow! I didn't even think about half of that stuff! Daddy has a TV table tray thingy that he uses when he's in his lazy boy so maybe I will kidnap it and keep it beside the bed with painkillers and gravol (I always get violently ill after general anesthetic). Do you think heat or ice would be beneficial? Do!minus asked if I would need a heat pad or anything and i dunno what to tell him.
CrazyLittleBuggaBoo Posted November 11, 2016 Report Posted November 11, 2016 Oh my goodness! I'd be scared stiff too!!! Good luck!
Guest Princessaj Posted November 11, 2016 Report Posted November 11, 2016 Yeah! glad to help. About heat or ice. Totally a Dr. question. Make sure to update your status so we can all pray for you during surgery please. Hugs

Hugs Daddy knows how close I am to all you guys and how active I am on the board so he promised to post when I get out of surgery to let my friends know I made it out. It's November 28th at 8 am. I'll try to post before I head in tho!!
