With a new little youre right to not jump into rules right away. But possibly giving 3-4 very basic rules to start and get used to each other isnt a bad idea. A slow start will help you guys figure out what to expect from each other, how he will follow them, and how you will stick with them over time. And how you will disclipine when he breaks them.

In my humble opinion it takes months before a caregiver and little can begin to work on a full set of rules. Id say about three months.

Yes, well, like I said, I'm waiting for rules for awhile. I wanted to make sure they were catered to his specific needs. Right now I'm just focusing on building our friendship :) Thanks though.

I can tell from this post that you're quite enthusiastic about this and want to make sure that you do your best. This is admirable to me because all too often I see caregivers that...don't seem to care very much. They don't embrace the responsibility aspect as fully as you appear to be doing here.

That said, I also get a feeling that you might be moving too fast. How long have you been talking to this person prior to today? I know that you want to jump right into it, but you said yourself that you're just getting to know each other. In my opinion, a solid friendship should already be built before establishing a CG/L relationship dynamic.

Editing to add: not liking diapers or pacis doesn't automatically make someone an older little or middle. It just means that they don't like those things. Little age is determined by feelings, not hobbies.
