Guest Lillin Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 I could use a wee bit of advice here. Recently I got Collared (yay! <3) and I've been wearing my collar almost 24/7 (only taking it off to bathe, swim, etc.) and I noticed it's getting a little itchy, so I probably need to clean it. Problem is, I highly doubt it's machine washable and I dont know much about hand cleaning satin/silk type fabrics. Little help? Thanks all!
kissingkitten Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 Congratulations!!! Maybe Downy for silk lingerie would be good. You could wash by hand. Hope this helps. =^..^=
StarEyed Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 What kind of collar is it? Like a pet collar or a silk ribbon?

Secret-ingredient Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 (edited) I used to clean the collar what kind of lining does it have there are three types in the ad ID assume its satin. Straight up DO NOT GET IT WET as in no washing mashine, no wearing it in the tub/shower(hopefully you didn't already do it) Edited October 13, 2016 by Sir-alderan 1
StarEyed Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 The seller says the interior is nylon webbing (like what most pet collars are made out of) and covered with satin ribbon. I'm at a loss on how to clean it to be honest. I would consider looking into a collar that is more 24/7 and reserving that collar for special times. Personally I like the ones that can be worn at all times and vanilla people don't know what they stand for. Those tend to be made of a metal chain and a lock of some sort.
Lil' Miss Dolly Posted October 15, 2016 Report Posted October 15, 2016 (edited) Yay! Grats on being collared!! I actually make these kinds of collars so hopefully I can help! You can clean the inner part with a baby wipe if it is getting dirty and making you itch but honestly the more likely culprit for the itch is sweat. The webbing is almost always a industrial nylon strapping and it doesn't breathe very well so it can make you sweat and in turn... make you itchy and occasionally cause a bit of a heatrash if worn for really long periods. These collars aren't really designed for 24/7 wear they are more just day and Play collars. If you are on etsy a fair bit TheCagedFlower and ToBeHis both make amazing 24/7 wear collars. I personally prefer cagedflower because they use stainless steel and locking segment rings compared to the padlock most other places use and honestly... they have amazing craftsmanship for the price. TObehis is more high end sterling silver; amazing but pricey as it's all hand crafted. So yes - you can gently wipe out the inner part of your ribbon collar (even if it's satin lined) with a baby wipe to remove after yucky dead skin cells, I stress gently! I am not familiar with Curiocollars workmanship so I don't know how they attach their embellishments so you don't wanna go all savage and risk breaking something. I would look into finding a more wear friendly alternative for a 24/7 thing though; at the end of the day it's ribbon and nylon and it will never take the punishment that a good infinity collar will! I am sure you don't want to thrash your first collar! It's a great keepsake! Edited October 15, 2016 by Lil' Miss Dolly
