EmeraldFaye Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) I've been spending some time trying to figure out the "Why?" behind the desire for His finger to suck on. I get the basic "Its soothing" or "helps me feel little" part. I guess I'm more asking why it is soothing. Why does it bring me such comfort? What about sucking on something (especially the finger) is a thing I need in my life? I love to self-reflect and really understand and break things down. But I can't figure this one out. What do you all think YOUR why is? Maybe it eill help me find mine. Edited October 6, 2016 by EmeraldFaye
Thequeen Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 Im talking for my little here because I have asked him this exact same questions about many things he likes as a little. So for the sucking my little says that its because it gives him something to completely focus on and it becomes a very clear thing of your sucking on this this is all you have to think about. So because of that it allows his mind to forget about all the things that are stressing him out and overwhelming him it becomes just the here and now. So as his mommy when I start caressing him and rocking him it brings joy into the picture instead of just the soothing feeling he gets from being carefree. And also once hes in this carefree state he can focus on just being a little so I think its just soothing because it allows his mind to forget everything thats going on and instead can focus on what Im doing to make him happy or focus on being a little. Hope this helped some If your wanting a friend you can add me -TheQueen
Antoinette Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I don't know, to be perfectly honest. In my opinion, not everything has a deep, intricate reason. Sometimes it really is you either like something or you don't and it's as simple as that, and that's okay. 1
Oliver Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I guess a starting point for answering this would be to determine why you might have found it soothing as a baby.
Guest NotSoLoneWanderer Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 I think, for me personally, it makes me feel little! There's something very cute and caring about my Daddy shooing away my finger when I try to suck on it and replacing it with his own or a paci, (especially his own because he proceeds to caress my cheek and gah). As for pacis though, I really love the way they look on me, kinda giving me a shy/seepy/babygirl look, especially if they're pink! That's just me though haha.
HeCallsMePrincess Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 it alleviates my anxiety for sure. I always kinda feel little so it's not that for me. it's just soothing.
Guest KikiMay10 Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 For me Its about to little noise my pacifier makes when I'm sucking on it. It helps me calm down and not feel so stress.
Guest ZenDD Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) It's great to be curious about the motivations behind our actions. You might want to look into the basics of "oral fixation" so you can get a grasp on the fundamentals of the human need for putting things in our mouths for reasons other than eating. As DDlg is a manifestation of a psychological need or desire, I think it's great that you're recognizing the benefits of understanding the psychology beneath it. Take care! Princess Joe Joe Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 For me it makes me feel safe and secure. When I was young, I did not have very make 'comfort' objects that most children had due to my parents throwing everything away. I did not have a special blanket, nor was I allowed to suck my thumb or pacifier past the age two. When my Papa allows me to suck his finger or pacifier it makes me feel like I get to have those things that where taken from me. It also brings a sense of childishness to me that isn't as easily unlocked as usual. For me pacifiers are like a little part of my Papa that is unique to us and not to anything, even my childhood . I adore that. Also I love to take cute pictures of myself with them in! 1
prncsscs Posted October 6, 2016 Report Posted October 6, 2016 I have oral fixation for one reason. Also it's just soothing and kinda sexy to have daddy's finger to suck on, and really relaxing to have a paci.
PrincessBriiBaby Posted October 6, 2016 Report Posted October 6, 2016 With me, my paci... pacifies me. It soothes me, keeps my mouth busy and helps me not to grind my teeth or bite my lips whenever I am having a bad day or an anxiety attack. (The oral fixation answer is also a reason for me.)
LittlePeachyPie Posted October 6, 2016 Report Posted October 6, 2016 I agree with what the Queen said It gives me something tangible to focus on and I'm therefore able to forget about all of my worries. I find it also helps to regulate my breathing (which I struggle with due to anxiety), and makes me feel sleepy ^.^
MisterMomo Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 Hi! ... For me it's about not grind me teeth... even got that from my dentist as a suggestion. I also bite my nail, something I cannot do when I have my binkie. I use it to sleep, but also when I'm driving alone or realize Im biting my nails. Why do I Like it ? ... I had one until I was 5 and bought one again when I was 14 ... I had a binkie almost all my life.. I just like it.
