he thinks i don't like him, what should i say?

and it's true i'm not attracted to him that much. BUT I want to go outside and talk to him, but nothing too serious yet because when it's serious I can come to like him, I invest a lot and get hurt in the process. I just don't want to be douchy and stuff. he says he likes me and he tells me a lot of compliments that i'm pretty, soft-spoken, and I;m very polite..he bought me cinnamon rolls randomly in class one day. I got him griddles to compensate. I don't understand how someone can just like another person so quickly, without really knowing the person. just like the other guys i dated and it all ended badly. I don't believe in that but there are dominant character traits that really attract me

 

he asked me on a date and he keeps saying 'if you don't like me just say it, if you're not interested..you don't have to worry about hurting my feelings.' I don't know what to reply to that.

You could tell him just that, that you need time to get to know him, that everything with him is going to fast for you. Just tell him honestly how you feel, that you don't want something serious (yet). It's good that you don't rush anything. =)

Tell him that you do like him. You like him as friends. And if he likes you, then he'll be just your friend and let you two get to know each other. And when the time comes, you'll know and tell him then.
