Daddylovesme Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 One way I have started coping with my Disabilities is by going into little space. It helps me cope non destructively. Are there any other littles with chronic illnesses on here? How does being a Little help you manage? 1
MisterMomo Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 (edited) Hi! I've two chronic illness... being Little helps me eat what I'm supposed to eat ... and avoid alcool or other products bad for me. It also helps me to be more "relaxed", something that can help me with the illness. Also helps to provide a better routine for myself.. There's many Plus linked to being Little. For keeping my mouth to be sick, the dentist suggested I use a kids tooth brush and tooth paste.. also a binkie to avoid grinding my teeth.. I've no problem following these suggestions. I've seen people doing very bad things to cope with bad feelings or cope with difficulties. I think that To play with stuffies or regress is not that bad... even a good thing. Take Care! Melodia Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 I agree, littlespace is wonderful for coping with disabilities and chronic illnesses. As I haven't got practically any ddlg experience yet, I can't attest to all the positive moments. But the one big thing I see is removal of stress and pressure. It doesn't matter if I can't do some things properly or at all. Instead every little effort is welcomed and celebrated. This outlook is exactly what I needed in my life to make it better.
annemarie Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 i have myalgic encephalmyelitis as well as scoliosis and asthma and, tbh, being in littlespace helps me focus more on the world around me rather than the pain i'm in, so yeah it helps 1
PeachiePrincess Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 Like what annemarie said, I find little space helps me not focus so much on my pain. In little space I can relax a lot easier and just kinda take some time for myself which I really need but don't always manage when I'm busy doing grown up stuff. 1
sleepygirl Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 Personally, it doesn't help me cope with my chronic illnesses. Maybe in a round about way it just makes me happier? I'm really happy to hear the various others besides OP that little space helps in coping with chronic illnesses.
spaceprincess_ Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 (edited) Another chronic cutie here! I got a really serious workplace injury like 9 years ago (ulnar neuritis, which in entrapment of the nerve that makes it hurt when you hurt your funny bone) which has messed up all the alignment and everything in my back and can cause arm/shoulder/neck/back pain as well as hip and knee issues. It's severely impacted my ability to function, and I have to be super careful to not do things/do certain things in certain ways to avoid a flareup, and it's exhausting -___- I actually used to be very stubborn and defensive about it, because I hated feeling 'weak' and dependent on other people, but being a little has made me appreciate and value the fact that I have people who want to look after me, and helped me see that being 'weak' doesn't make me less of a strong person. Hell, people like us deal with more pain and general nastiness on a regular basis than a lot of other people ever will, the fact we do that and keep on truckin' is something to be celebrated ^^ So yeah, being in littlespace helps cheer me up and not be so pouty and cranky about being tired/sore/frustrated, but more than that it's helped me change my perspective on my condition and accept the help I need. Daddylovesme Posted October 7, 2016 Author Report Posted October 7, 2016 I also have a service dog that I got from an organization about a year ago! Which is around the same time I met my Daddy :3. It was a little weird getting used to having a dog around all the time for him, but Hero is really good about staying ut where hes supposed to unless he needs to alert or help me during Daddy and I's play time. :3
tinkerpale Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 Hii^^ This is my first post on this site ever!! hehe^^ I have lyme disease, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, POTS, & more chronic illnesses.. Being a little is who I am all the time & being me makes me feel happy:) So yes!! little space does help me get through everything.. I just wear an animal onesie, cuddle up in blankies, gently squeeze my plushies with love, watch Disney movies, & eat sweet fruit. Anything soft with pretty colors makes me feel happy, so that's how I like to get lost in my own little weird wonderland. hehe
Daddylovesme Posted December 3, 2016 Author Report Posted December 3, 2016 I love all the comments on here and hope more people will see this post and comment their experiences!
Aisling Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 I love that someone posted this. I never really thought about being little helping with my chronic illnesses and pain. I can see how it might though. I am new to being little and can't speak to any experiences of how it has helped me, but I will now experiment with it and see if it does! I think it will. Thanks for the suggestions everyone has made as to what works for you! Now to find the right plushie and fuzzy blankie for those times that I need some extra comforting. Amazon wish list here I come! lol
Guest LittleLexiKitty Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 It defiantly does help me with my anxiety alot (i have social anxiety as well as bpd) and being little helps me alot cause when i get really little i can forget about all the stress the is causing my anxiety and i can just worry about coloring or watching a movie or playing with my stuffies instead of all the grown up problems in life. Also when im sucking on my paci at night (i have insomnia) it actually helps me sleep alot better and alot more peacefully with the paci in my mouth all night.
