Another movie coming out giving the wrong idea about BDSM.

 

Just watched the preview.

 

A couple KIDNAPS a girl to make their "slave", putting her in chains and beating her- and making her sign a "contract" to be their slave...

URGH.

Its SUPER CREEPY. Apparently it was based on a "true story".

I'm just a little upset about it.

I just saw the preview tonight. It looks like a thriller so I don't think I won't be.

It doesn't look like a movie about BDSM but about psychopaths who kidnapped a young woman to make a slave of her.

Is this supposed to be loosely based on the Elizabeth Smart case? If it's a Lifetime movie, it's going to be highly dramatized.

 

Moreover, in general I don't expect Hollywood or mainstream fiction to ever portray BDSM in a positive light. It's much more exciting and titillating to the masses to play with themes of non consent than to highlight what the lifestyle is really about. Sad, but this has been true since the early days of the Harliquin "romance" novels, the precursor to today's modern erotic fiction.
