Hi there! I actually just finished reading the thread on derma and tricho, actually.

While I have neither disorder, I do have severe anxiety that often needs fidgets to make me feel better. A spinner ring really helps me, which can be found at any kind of store and there's loads on Amazon. If you haven't heard of them before, it's a ring that has an inner piece that spins when you touch it. It's great for nervous ticks and helps soothe me. My girlfriend has a lot of mental disorders as well, and she swears by the calming powers of doing a puzzle. It doesn't work for me, but that's also something to try. Another suggestion would be looking up sensory toys, or fidgets to give your hands something to do other than pick.

Another big thing that helps for me personally is temperature changes. If I'm having a particularly difficult moment, I'll step away and dunk my head under cold water, or run my hands under hotter water than colder right after. (Not enough to hurt myself, of course!) I find that it snaps me out of the mindset I'm in and back to the present.

I have panic attacks from being overwhelmed sometimes. I have a time turner that spins that helps me concentrate but I know some people carry lots of different items. Fidget toys are great for busying your hands but items like a small stuffed animal or item that makes you smile can help relax you as well. I wish you lots of luck :)

Dear Papa's Kitten,

I have struggled with something simmilar for years :)

I got myself a teether... while it can be weird outside of home, while I'm at home it works like a charm ^^ plus it empowers your little space feels a lot hehe.

Additionally if you happen to focus a lot on your fingers, like me, there are some options that might help. I have a cream that is called "lemon butter cuticle cream" by Burts Bees, I put it around my nails and in the fingertips. It changes the way it feels when you bite your fingertips and the skin around the nail... it feels so different that you stop, because the fingertips taste and feel weirdly different. But it doesnt taste gross as the anti bite nail polishes that will make your food taste awful if you use your hands to eat it!

hugs and take care

Speaking of teethers, there's really great ones that look like berries and double as pacifiers on Amazon! I have two of them. Look up Razzberries.

Teethers sound like they might be a possibility. If you need something in public, you might try wearing one of the teething necklaces...they just look like colorful beads and since a lot of girls play around with their necklaces in their mouth sometimes anyway (including me lol), it wouldn't be a big deal. Hope it helps! ♥
